As an "Artist of Pieces", my brain seems to process information piece by piece and my artistic nature organizes these pieces into something visually stimulating. I am driven to constantly challenge myself with new ways to produce fine art that are interesting and ever evolving. Recycled magazines have been my common thread, whether as mosaic pieces or dimensioanlly assembled into unique sculptures.
Drawing and creating was a big part of my childhood and I never imagined I would make a career being an artist. Interior architecture was my livelihood until my sweet daughter came along and showed me how valuable life is. The more time with her, the better! Who knew the magazine collages I created for her nursery would launch my career as an artist more than ten years ago.
Early in my collage days, subject matter was suggested by my clients. Over the years, I began to create what inspired and challenged me. Simply understanding how recycled magazines work together and can be manipulated in different forms has kept me engaged for years. Recently, I introduced acrylic painting and have felt a freedom in my sense of style like never before. One of my best discoveries is pouring medium. The quickness of this medium and integration of my drawing talents is definitely soul uplifting! I can't wait to see where this takes me over the next several years.
